Although some high-profile retailers didn't quite get the December they were hoping for, it was a different story entirely at Devonshire Motors, and it looks set to continue into 2013.
Figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) this week show that for December 2012 Mitsubishi's national sales volume was up 56% on December 2011- the biggest increase of any manufacturer apart from Bentley. This is a fantastic achievement considering the current economic climate and even more so on the back of recent news that many retailers suffered a worse December than they'd had the previous year.
At the same time as these figures were released, Devonshire Motors were also announced as the top performing UK Mitsubishi dealer for new car local market share in December, with a whopping 10%- meaning that 1 out of every 10 new cars sold locally was a Devonshire Motors Mitsubishi.
And 2013 has started in the same way that 2012 ended, with continuation of the fantastic offers like VAT saving and free AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission) on the Mitsubishi Colt, 5 year 125,000 mile warranty on L200, and up to £3,000 Part Exchange contribution on some models.
2012 also sees the release of 2 brand new Mitsubishi models- New Outlander and the Mirage, along with the arrival of the 13MY ASX- which for the first time includes a fully automatic variant.
With registrations of alternatively-fuelled cars rising to new highs in 2012, Devonshire Motors are very excited about the arrival of the brand new Outlander which, along with the traditional engine line-up, also boasts a PHEV version (the world's first plug-in hybrid SUV) which is capable of in excess of 150mpg as a 7seat, 4WD family vehicle.
The compact new super-mini- the Mirage- has been designed to be efficient in every way. With fuel consumption figures of close to 70mpg, and zero road tax across the whole range, its bound to be quite a hit, and rumour has it that it will be available from just £7,995.
New Outlander is arriving at Devonshire Motors any day now, closely followed by the Mirage, so hurry if you want to be one of the first to own one of these exciting new models!
2012 turned out to be a much better year for the entire Motor Industry, with new car registrations in the UK rising 5.3% to over 2 million units, the highest volume since 2008, and the largest recorded percentage increase since 2001. But while percentages have been rising in some areas, they have been dropping dramatically in others; average new Co2 emissions fell to environmentally-friendly new lows of 133.1g/km- the lowest ever- and almost a quarter less than they were a decade ago. And, of course, as lower emissions mean lower road tax- these figures indicate a positive for motorists as well as the environment.
So 13 may be unlucky for some, but by the looks of things, it could well be a lucky year for the Motor Industry and it certainly looks like it will be a lucky year for Devonshire Motors and Mitsubishi.
