’TIS THE SEASON FOR A 4X4 FROM DEVONSHIRE MOTORS

WINTER is on its way – and Devonshire Motors have the perfect vehicles to help get you through the tricky driving conditions the season can bring.
The Barnstaple dealership has the full range of Mitsubishi 4x4s, which are all ideal for whatever is thrown at them – snow, hail, ice, wind and rain.

Nathan Tomlinson, Dealer Principal at the Braunton Road showroom, said: ‘The 4x4s manufactured by Mitsubishi have a well-earned reputation for withstanding the harsh elements as well as being able to tackle the tough West Country terrain, and their four-wheel-drive ability means peace of mind for people who may find themselves out in all conditions.

‘We’ve got 4x4s of all sizes and to suit all needs – the ASX, Shogun, Outlander diesel and its hybrid counterpart the PHEV, plus the L200 pick-up. Mitsubishi really does make the perfect 4x4 that truly delivers, so if you’re looking for a 4x4 then look no further.’
Available as a 4x4 with a choice of powerful yet efficient petrol and diesel engines, the awesome ASX crossover, which bridges the gap between Mitsubishi’s refined passenger cars and its legendary off-roaders, offers impressive fuel economy but still packs plenty of pulling power. It also boasts a five-star Euro-NCAP safety rating.

The iconic Shogun is the classic off-roader that combines four-wheel driving with bold, muscular styling and makes a wonderful family car, with seats for seven plus a spacious load area. It combines true off-road capability plus effortless towing capacity of up to 3,500kg with interior luxury and top-end saloon-like style and specification.

The latest Mitsubishi Outlander diesel not only has a five-star Euro NCAP rating but 40 measures have also been taken to reduce the levels of noise, vibration and harshness. This 4x4, with its legendary built-in reliability, blends a substantial look with clean surfaces and combines the practicality and flexibility of a sports utility vehicle with the luxury and refinement of the world’s finest family cars.
The Outlander PHEV is the world’s first 4x4 plug-in hybrid SUV, its impeccable environmental credentials mean no vehicle tax or London congestion charge is payable and it is capable of over 100mpg. It has a handy app that lets owners manage the temperature of the vehicle, allowing them to warm it up ahead of getting in – perfect for those cold mornings!

Meanwhile, the rugged L200 is the market-leading go-anywhere pick-up, and while the
new Series 5 model – named Best Pick-Up 2015 by judges at    Auto Express ahead of its UK launch – features improvements as a work vehicle, it has been developed as ‘the ultimate sport utility truck’ and to provide an interior space with comfort levels on a par with a passenger model. In all key areas the new L200 Series 5 is best in class, including fuel efficiency, performance, emissions and manoeuvrability plus combined carrying and towing. What’s more, it’s also the only pick-up that can be driven permanently in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive on tarmac and off road.

NORTH DEVON DEALERSHIP STRIKES UP PARTNERSHIP WITH WILDLIFE TV PRESENTER

NORTH Devon’s award-winning Mitsubishi dealership Devonshire Motors has struck up a partnership with wildlife television presenter Johnny Kingdom.

The dealership, in Braunton Road, Barnstaple, is sponsoring the film-maker, who drives a rugged and reliable Mitsubishi Shogun complete with a camouflage finish, as he travels around his beloved Exmoor for his TV work.

Johnny, who has worked in television for more than 20 years, including on the BBC and most recently on Johnny Kingdom's Wild Exmoor on ITV earlier this year, said: ‘I’ve been coming to Devonshire Motors for years so it’s great to have this partnership. Hopefully I can help them and they can help me.

‘This is my eighth Mitsubishi and the Shogun is just the right vehicle for me. It’s a proper, serious 4x4 that can go anywhere, which is what I need for some of the tough driving I do.’ Johnny will also use the vehicle for safaris, which he regularly hosts around Exmoor, and on journeys to the likes of the North Devon Show and Devon County Show.

‘I do a lot of driving,’ Johnny said. ‘I’m always busy, whether it’s for television, doing the safaris or going into schools to give wildlife talks.’

Peter Starbuck, one of three senior members of the sales team at the dealership, which has been with Mitsubishi for 25 years, said: ‘Johnny has been a loyal customer of ours for a long time so we are delighted to sponsor him. He is well known for his TV work and he’s a popular character locally whom everybody recognises, and they certainly won’t miss him driving around in his new vehicle.’

Earlier this year, Devonshire Motors was named Mitsubishi Dealer of the Year at the car brand’s annual conference for UK dealers. The award was the latest recognition of the dealership’s great work. In 2013, Nathan Tomlinson was named Dealer Principal of the Year by two leading trade magazines: Motor Trader and Car Dealer.

NEW, IMPROVED MITSUBISHI VEHICLES AT DEVONSHIRE MOTORS

MITSUBISHI has been busy making a whole host of improvements to its vehicles and they’re all available at Devonshire Motors in Barnstaple.

Nathan Tomlinson, Dealer Principal at the Braunton Road showroom, said: ‘All these vehicles have had significant changes this year. In fact, there have been so many improvements in the quality, performance, appearance, class-leading features and so on that we can practically relaunch the range.’

The Outlander PHEV is the nation’s favourite choice of plug-in vehicle, with Mitsubishi having sold more than 12,500 of them since the SUV’s launch last year. And with the new model, launched in Tokyo in October by London Mayor Boris Johnson, fuel economy has been improved – up from 148mpg to 156mpg – while CO2 emissions are down from 44g/km to 42g/km.

Meanwhile, the new Outlander diesel is Mitsubishi’s safest and most environmentally-friendly version of the SUV ever produced. Among the many enhancements, a total of 40 noise, vibration and harshness improvements have been introduced, and the crossover boasts new styling, too. As well as an improved appearance, which includes new-look LED headlamps and new rear lamps, ride and handling have been made even better, while the cabin interior has also been worked on to improve levels of comfort and safety.

Available with a choice of powerful, yet efficient, petrol and diesel engines, the awesome ASX crossover offers impressive fuel economy but still packs plenty of pulling power. It also boasts a five-star Euro-NCAP safety rating and is available as a four-wheel drive. A new naming structure has been brought in for it, with the ASX 2 now called the ASX ZC, the ASX 3 becoming the ASX ZC-M, and the ASX 4 now the ASX ZC-H. Among the many new or changed specifications from the current ASX 2, the ASX ZC now has steering wheel audio controls, privacy glass and a premium front centre arm rest/console box. The ASX ZC-M gains a number of key specification items to create a fresh new look and feel, including new 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels plus DAB, while the range-topping ASX ZC-H has a factory-fitted Mitsubishi Multi-Communication System, boasting a seven-inch high-definition touchscreen display, sat nav, reversing camera, DAB plus FM/AM/LW radio, CD players and SD card compatibility. All engines in the new range meet the latest Euro 6 emission regulations, with a new 1.6 diesel engine replacing the 1.8 Mitsubishi diesel unit in the ZC-M and ZC-H manual models.

The Mirage has a winning blend of chic styling, exceptional comfort, low running costs and tiny turning circle, and the Attivo, which replaces the earlier models, adds to an already great specification. New features include heated front seats, cruise control with limiter, and the Mitsubishi Multi Entertainment System (MMES) – which includes satellite navigation plus a rear-view camera.
The new model also boasts electric folding door mirrors with integral indicators. That’s a lot of bang for your buck for a small family car.

Available as a manual or an automatic, the Attivo, which can seat five people, has a boot capacity of 235 litres, while the 1.2 three-cylinder petrol engine is Euro 6b-compliant and delivers a wallet-friendly 65.7mpg. Emissions are just 100g/km CO2 for
the manual and 99g/km for the CVT, which means owners don’t pay any vehicle tax and there’s no liability for the London congestion charge either.

Other impressive eco-technologies include Auto Stop & Go and a regenerative braking system. Inside, the airy and comfortable cabin cocoons its occupants in a pleasant, well-designed and, above all, safe environment. Speaking of safety, the Attivo has ABS as standard as well as an emergency stop system and six airbags.
The L200 Series 5 pick-up received its European premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in February this year and drew widespread praise with its much larger loading area, more muscular bodywork and safety improvements such as Trailer Assist and seven airbags.

And in July, the all-new L200 was named Best Pick-Up 2015 by judges at Auto Express – the UK’s top automobile weekly – ahead of its UK launch, where it received widespread praise from the motoring press. It has inherited the DNA of its predecessors and takes the pick-up concept even further. The L200 Series 5, which has four trims, is an entirely new vehicle from the ground up, with significant improvements in 330 areas. The result is the ultimate vehicle for commercial duty, combined with SUV-like refinement in quality and dynamic performance. In all key areas the new L200 Series 5 is best in class. These include fuel efficiency, performance, emissions and manoeuvrability plus combined carrying and towing. What’s more, it’s also the only pick-up that can be driven permanently in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive on tarmac and off road.

The Series 5 is more fuel-efficient than before, too, with a combined 42.9mpg, and it returns the lowest CO2 figure in its class, emitting just 169g/km. It has a turning radius of 5.9m and can carry and tow a combined 4.1 tonnes, outshining similar vehicles from other manufacturers. Powered by the new 2.4-litre MIVEC turbo-diesel engine, it is available with 151 bhp or 178 bhp in a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual. And with its leather interior and clean dashboard layout, it’s even been likened to a premium, executive motor more than a pick-up truck.

On top of all this, all new Mitsubishi vehicles come with a five-year/62,500-mile warranty, so confident and proud is the manufacturer of the build quality.
