MITSUBISHI has been busy making a whole host of improvements to its vehicles and they’re all available at Devonshire Motors in Barnstaple.
Nathan Tomlinson, Dealer Principal at the Braunton Road showroom, said: ‘All these vehicles have had significant changes this year. In fact, there have been so many improvements in the quality, performance, appearance, class-leading features and so on that we can practically relaunch the range.’
The Outlander PHEV is the nation’s favourite choice of plug-in vehicle, with Mitsubishi having sold more than 12,500 of them since the SUV’s launch last year. And with the new model, launched in Tokyo in October by London Mayor Boris Johnson, fuel economy has been improved – up from 148mpg to 156mpg – while CO2 emissions are down from 44g/km to 42g/km.
Meanwhile, the new Outlander diesel is Mitsubishi’s safest and most environmentally-friendly version of the SUV ever produced. Among the many enhancements, a total of 40 noise, vibration and harshness improvements have been introduced, and the crossover boasts new styling, too. As well as an improved appearance, which includes new-look LED headlamps and new rear lamps, ride and handling have been made even better, while the cabin interior has also been worked on to improve levels of comfort and safety.
Available with a choice of powerful, yet efficient, petrol and diesel engines, the awesome ASX crossover offers impressive fuel economy but still packs plenty of pulling power. It also boasts a five-star Euro-NCAP safety rating and is available as a four-wheel drive. A new naming structure has been brought in for it, with the ASX 2 now called the ASX ZC, the ASX 3 becoming the ASX ZC-M, and the ASX 4 now the ASX ZC-H. Among the many new or changed specifications from the current ASX 2, the ASX ZC now has steering wheel audio controls, privacy glass and a premium front centre arm rest/console box. The ASX ZC-M gains a number of key specification items to create a fresh new look and feel, including new 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels plus DAB, while the range-topping ASX ZC-H has a factory-fitted Mitsubishi Multi-Communication System, boasting a seven-inch high-definition touchscreen display, sat nav, reversing camera, DAB plus FM/AM/LW radio, CD players and SD card compatibility. All engines in the new range meet the latest Euro 6 emission regulations, with a new 1.6 diesel engine replacing the 1.8 Mitsubishi diesel unit in the ZC-M and ZC-H manual models.
The Mirage has a winning blend of chic styling, exceptional comfort, low running costs and tiny turning circle, and the Attivo, which replaces the earlier models, adds to an already great specification. New features include heated front seats, cruise control with limiter, and the Mitsubishi Multi Entertainment System (MMES) – which includes satellite navigation plus a rear-view camera.
The new model also boasts electric folding door mirrors with integral indicators. That’s a lot of bang for your buck for a small family car.
Available as a manual or an automatic, the Attivo, which can seat five people, has a boot capacity of 235 litres, while the 1.2 three-cylinder petrol engine is Euro 6b-compliant and delivers a wallet-friendly 65.7mpg. Emissions are just 100g/km CO2 for the manual and 99g/km for the CVT, which means owners don’t pay any vehicle tax and there’s no liability for the London congestion charge either.
Other impressive eco-technologies include Auto Stop & Go and a regenerative braking system. Inside, the airy and comfortable cabin cocoons its occupants in a pleasant, well-designed and, above all, safe environment. Speaking of safety, the Attivo has ABS as standard as well as an emergency stop system and six airbags.
The L200 Series 5 pick-up received its European premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in February this year and drew widespread praise with its much larger loading area, more muscular bodywork and safety improvements such as Trailer Assist and seven airbags.
And in July, the all-new L200 was named Best Pick-Up 2015 by judges at Auto Express – the UK’s top automobile weekly – ahead of its UK launch, where it received widespread praise from the motoring press. It has inherited the DNA of its predecessors and takes the pick-up concept even further. The L200 Series 5, which has four trims, is an entirely new vehicle from the ground up, with significant improvements in 330 areas. The result is the ultimate vehicle for commercial duty, combined with SUV-like refinement in quality and dynamic performance. In all key areas the new L200 Series 5 is best in class. These include fuel efficiency, performance, emissions and manoeuvrability plus combined carrying and towing. What’s more, it’s also the only pick-up that can be driven permanently in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive on tarmac and off road.
The Series 5 is more fuel-efficient than before, too, with a combined 42.9mpg, and it returns the lowest CO2 figure in its class, emitting just 169g/km. It has a turning radius of 5.9m and can carry and tow a combined 4.1 tonnes, outshining similar vehicles from other manufacturers. Powered by the new 2.4-litre MIVEC turbo-diesel engine, it is available with 151 bhp or 178 bhp in a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual. And with its leather interior and clean dashboard layout, it’s even been likened to a premium, executive motor more than a pick-up truck.
On top of all this, all new Mitsubishi vehicles come with a five-year/62,500-mile warranty, so confident and proud is the manufacturer of the build quality.
